About Dr. Triggs

Dr. John Triggs has been practising historical and pre-contact archaeology since 1980. He has been a professional archaeological consultant for more than 30 years specializing in historic period military, domestic, and fur trade sites in the province including many Canadian National Historic Sites. His work has taken him to the Kingdom of Jordan, the paleolithic rockshelters of the Perigord, France, and Bermuda where he has worked on various projects since 1988 in association with the National Museum of Bermuda. Beginning in 2000 as a full-time professor at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, he taught historical archaeology and cultural heritage management for 21 years. In 2016 he founded Triggs Heritage Consulting. The company has conducted heritage conservation studies and archaeology assessments at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, Discovery Harbour, Old Fort Erie, National Historic Sites, and various other archaeological assessments in the Niagara Region. Dr. Triggs has promoted heritage awareness through various media over the past four decades. He holds a Professional Archaeological Consulting license number P-048.

Dr. Triggs currently resides in Fort Erie, Canada, where he spends time with family and friends and cares for a 15-year-old cat named Mulan.
